The Mosaic Jewelry Box by Creativity for Kids allows children to transform a plain, white jewelry box into a sparkling mosaic masterpiece using acrylic tiles in a variety of colors. The box has a velvety interior to store treasured pieces inside. Included in the Mosaic Jewelry Box kit is the following (contents may vary from those listed):

When working on the project, each side will need to dry before moving to the next (depending on temperature and humidity in your area, drying could take a few hours or it may need to be left to dry overnight). Leftover materials should be saved in case repairs are needed (and can also be used for other craft projects).

When it’s time to get down to a pretty serious, and fun, art project – this is the one. The instructions are fairly clear and easy to follow. The small mosaic tiles come in one bag, so you’ll have to separate those out first. And some of the tiles are a little odd shaped (like any true mosaic) so sometimes it can be a little bit difficult to find the perfect tile for the next spot. It’s a little challenging, but definitely a good way!

Well, it’s a jewelry box, so it isn’t exactly meant to be thrown around. If your child sits it on a counter, it should be just fine. But, if your kids are anything like the kids from our review team, they are going to want to handle their newly made jewelry box as often as possible! Some of the mosaic tiles may fall off, but luckily it just takes a little glue to reattach.

The kids and their parents all thought that this was one very cute, very fun art project that could easily be done at home. The glitter adds a little extra pop, and the acrylic feet on the jewelry box are a nice added compliment to the overall aesthetic. Adorable!

Once complete, this truly is a fully functional jewelry box. It is a little small, but probably perfect for kid-size jewelry storage. And this really is an extensively involved project takes quite a bit of time. You’ll want to work on one side at a time and allow ample dry time before moving on, so odds are this isn’t a one-sitting project.

Our review team has certainly seen plenty of arts and crafts kits, but this definitely does have its own upside. Kids have a chance to really create, and they’ll get to use the finished project for storage. A nice, unique addition to the world of kids crafts!

Overall the kids loved working with this project. The Mosaic Jewelry Box is priced well, draws kids to it with its bright colors and is fairly durable. It takes a little patience, and a little skill, but if you have the type child who can handle a pretty involved art project, the Mosaic Jewelry Box is the perfect choice!
