Wild Creations EcoAquarium is a balanced, self-cleaning ecosystem environment. Each EcoAquarium includes the following:

• Two African dwarf frogs that typically live three to five years
• At least one small snail
• Living Gravel
• A small plant

The included elements allow the EcoAquarium to be a small aquarium with a complete aquatic ecosystem environment that requires no additional chemicals, filters or aeration. The water in the aquarium only needs to be changed two times a year.
 
All of the living elements inside the EcoAquarium contribute to the needs of each other. The frogs and snail in the aquarium consume oxygen and produce carbon dioxide. Naturally occurring bacteria in the Living Gravel convert ammonia from animal waste and left over food into nitrates. These byproducts provide food and nutrients for the living plants and algae, which in turn produce oxygen through photosynthesis. Through this cycle a balanced ecosystem is created.


Seriously, a pet for your child could not be any easier to own and maintain than this one! Our parents shared a nice smile, almost a relieved look, and some doubt when they were told outside of feeding and a water change twice a year that no daily maintenance was required! Feedings twice a week – which required dropping a few pellets of frog food into the aquarium and that’s it.

Our parents happily grouped maintenance in with durability – and well, they went on about that enough in the ease of use category. The aquarium itself is actually a fairly delicate ecosystem. You’ll want to make sure that younger children only handle the system with adult supervision. As kids get a little bit older this is definitely a good starter pet that can even be kept in their bedroom. Treat the EcoAquarium properly and the durability concerns become very small.

Top marks! Our parents really enjoyed spending a few minutes checking out the EcoAquarium and watching the frogs do their thing. More importantly of course the kids loved it! Kids were just drawn to it – and they were happily occupied watching the frogs.

Talk about functionality – this is mother nature at her finest. The living gravel, the vegetation, the frogs, the snails and the water all interact as intended to keep this ecosystem operating at tip-top performance. One of the more amazing things our parents were happy to note was the way the kids just took to the responsibility of feeding the frogs. The older children also really got into the science of the ecosystem and enjoyed explaining how everything worked to friends and family.

Perfectly priced! Our parents were honest – they didn’t want to spend too much money on a pet for their children. And when they found out that Wild Creation’s EcoAquarium was priced at just under $20 – we heard the following phrases more than once: “That’s just what I was thinking.” and “Oh – $20 is just right for this!”

A living breathing ecosystem that cares for itself is not a brand new idea – but one this compact, priced this perfectly, and geared for little ones is a new idea. Wild Creations took a classic science project and made it into the perfect pet for kids!

Five stars all the way! The frogs are just cool! The ecosystem cares for itself! Feed the frogs, change the water every six months and enjoy! It’s priced perfectly – and teaches kids a bit of science while learning how to care for animals. The EcoAquarium is truly a five star product and our parents and kids have not been happier about any product we’ve reviewed! Excellent all around!
