SUMMARY

Curious Bonz are construction toys focusing on building fun, whimsical characters. Each set of Bonz features a special connector that pivots 180 degrees to all characters to be posable and interconnect with other sets.

The Bonz Deluxe set, recommended for children four to seven, is a set of 43 anatomically incorrect shapes that interconnect with each other and other Bonz sets to form supernatural creatures and boney beasts.

The Bonz Band set contains 40 pieces that kids can put together to make their own percussive, whistling, shaking, tambourining, and drumming music-making creation. Kids can play along with the CD that is included inside, recorded with the Bonz Band instruments.

EASE OF USE

Dump them out, and let their imaginations run wild! We hate to oversimplify things, but with toys like these from Curious Bonz it seems that kids instinctively know just what to do. Some of the younger kids needed assistance with assembly - but not with the idea. It didn't take our groups of kids to dig in, start building and having a blast with Curious Bonz!

DURABILITY

Both the Bonz Deluxe set and the Bonz Band set are made of strong, durable plastic that can take the beating that your little ones will dish out. The only worry would be that the toys will "disconnect" at the joints if kids are a little too rough on them, but other than that Curious Bonz are built for plenty of action!

VISUAL APPEAL

Definitely a strong suit with both sets of Curious Bonz - they just look like loads of fun! And good for them - they don't disappoint. With each set you've got ideas of what to construct, or your kids are free to let their imaginations run wild and create never before seen (or thought of) musical instruments and skeletons.

FUNCTIONALITY

Curious Bonz are a lot of fun for kids to play with - and that is obviously objective number one! Our younger kids were able to build, play with, destroy and rebuild both musical instrument after musical instrument and skeleton after skeleton. Kids that were a little bit older did end up losing interest after a bit of play, but everyone was really happy as they created! This is one of those toys where they supply the parts, and as long as your child keep pushing their imagination they'll have plenty of function to work with!

COST EFFICIENCY

Our Moms and Dads did estimate the pricing to be around $20 for each of these sets. Coming in at more than $30 was definitely a bit of a surprise for some of our parents. Some did feel that they wouldn't be comfortable spending that much on a toy like this, but others really liked the originality and the opportunity for creativity and felt this price was high, but worth it.

ORIGINALITY

Curious Bonz toys build on the popularity of all of the put them together toys that came before them. Yet our Moms and Dads really thought these put a fun twist on classic ideas. Kids can build skeleton after skeleton, and instrument after instrument with these fun sets - and that's worthy of keeping these sets to the high side of our ratings.

OVERALL RATING

The kids loved them! The parents thought they were cool too! The price may have been a bit higher than some would have liked - but other than that - there really isn't too much our groups could have asked for. The sets were fun, allowed kids to create, and recreate, and recreate again. Well done - and well worth five stars!
