INDIVIDUAL CATEGORY RATINGS
|
Somehow, beyond our understanding,
kids just have a knack as to how to play with trading
cards. Really, there's no need for instructions
because we just opened the package and the girls began
to explore. They were excited to use the stickers
to place flowers on the included map to denote where
their "girls" came from - no one told them to do it, nor
were there instructions that recommended it - but it
just came naturally! Additionally, our adult
reviewers appreciated the guidance on the packaging with
regard to which cards could be considered "rare"
(especially being a product none of our review team had
ever seen before). |
|
|
Tough category for cards - bottom
line, paper can only handle so much wear and tear;
however, for our older girls, the protective pages
within the vinyl binder will keep them from becoming
tattered. Our younger girls were more interested
in holding and looking at the cards (and working on
reading them to us!), so, the review team agreed that
the younger the user, the less the durability. |
|
|
First comment was on the packaging
of the cards as well as the vinyl binder cover - bright
and inviting were the words that came to mind. The
packing of the cards certainly peaked the girls interest
as the just wanted to rip them open. Once opened -
our adult reviewers loved the unique look of the many
girls - from dark hair and glasses to differing clothing
styles the pictures help create the personality of each
of the girls. The reviewers also agreed the
Chatterpets are cute too, but not as cute as the girls.
Finally, our reviewers also checked out the Chatterchix
website - it's just as bright and inviting as the cards
with some activities available as well. |
|
|
Our reviewers found multiple
functions for the cards; however, the first comments
were with regard to the overall idea of trading cards -
they tend to be a fad. Reviewers also agreed that
all fads aren't bad, but the more a fad catches on, the
more functional the product would turn out to be!
That begin said - even if a fad is not created by these
cards, there are many functions. First, girls have
an opportunity for card collecting which tends to be a
male-dominated activity. Second, the girls have
the opportunity to find states on the map, marking where
their "girls" are from as well as learning fun facts
about the state (included on the cards). Lastly,
these cards really do present girls with the values of
respect, love, responsibility and friendship in a unique
way. |
|
|
Our panel guessed $15 as a price tag
for the Chatterchix Starter Set, so at about $5 more,
they are a little pricy. Also, our reviewers noted
that this is a starter set - for sure your girls are
going to want to purchase additional trading card packs
to increase their collection (think stocking
stuffers?!). For some, made in the USA helped to
justify the price! |
|
|
Never seen anything like it!
Of course, trading cards are by no means new; but, most
definitely Chatterchix are unique to the category.
A fresh idea for girls, especially those who are
interested in collections. |
|
|
Our panel loves to see new ideas
- especially those that have positive images for our
young girls, so, with that in mind, Chatterchix is a
great product! Our girls were engaged and are
interested in obtaining additional cards to add to
this collection. Adult reviewers loved their
desire to place flowers on the map and little did
our girls know they were learning along the way! |
