Editor’s Note: Don’t you know us better by now?! We wouldn’t possibly bring on a healthy lifestyle blogger that sits here and tells you not to enjoy your favorite foods! Read on to hear what Loni has to say in this week’s FIT from Within!
The Blog: Think for a moment of a food from your past, one that makes you feel great after you eat it for no specific reason. Maybe it is macaroni and cheese, slow-simmered tomato sauce, ice cream cones or potato pancakes. Eating comfort foods (every now and then) can be incredibly healing, even though your rational brain might not consider it highly nutritious. So, my advice to always give yourself permission to eat whatever you want…as long as you truly want it. Also, to always upgrade your meal. Say you are craving that ice cream don’t substitute it for yogurt because you are not going to feel satisfied, end up over eating and still craving that ice cream. Go for the high quality stuff and enjoy every bite! It’s soul food!
