Your family can sing along with The Baby Abuelita Family! Baby Abuelita has a unique line of adorable dolls that sing the traditional Hispanic lullabies (“canciones de cuna”) that have been passed down from generation to generation in Hispanic families! These are the songs that Abuela (Grandma) and Abuelo (Grandpa) would sing while rocking us and putting us to sleep!
The Abuelito Pancho Doll is a traditional Hispanic Grandpa! Abulito Pancho is dressed in a classic yellow guayabera with blue trousers. His adorable, soft white mustache is perfect for tickly kisses. Squeeze Abuelito Pancho’s hand and he’ll sing:
“Los pollitos dicen”
“Aserrín, aserrán, los maderos de San Juan”
“Tengo una vaca lechera”
INDIVIDUAL CATEGORY RATINGS
There’s something about Grandpa’s – and Abuelito Pancho’s got it! Our kids were quick to take there turns playing with Abuelito Pancho and were happy to squeeze his hand and work on learning his songs! It doesn’t get much easier than that!
Our only concerns with Abuelito Pancho is that his glasses wouldn’t fall off, and that he would be able to keep singing. After days spent with our kids, we’re happy to report that the glasses stayed on and the music kept coming! We don’t suspect that Abuelito Pancho is washer safe, so all clean-up had to be done with warm water and a cloth.
We’re not sure if it his blue eyes, his fun mustache, or his bright yellow shirt, but Abuelito Pancho definitely grabbed our kids attention (quicker in fact than Abuelita Rosa). Our parents were still concerned that this might not be the first toy their children would pull off of the shelf, but they were all pleasantly surprised how their little boys and their little girls gravitated to Abuelito! And once they added in his songs, our kids were extremely happy to have Abuelito Pancho by their side!
Like most singing dolls, Abuelito Pancho performs admirably. He sings four different Spanish lullabies. In our studies, all it took was a simple squeeze of his hand and he sang, and the batteries did not give out yet, and believe us, our kids tried their hardest to drain them!
At $24.99 some of our panel was felt that they would probably be more inclined to go for some of the more mainstream singing dolls – remember, this isn’t an inexpensive category, so Abuelito Pancho comes in towards the low end of the pricing scale for singing dolls. Similar to all singing dolls that we review, our group felt that at a lower price point, Abuelito Pancho might jump off the shelf and into their carts quicker. All of our panelists did feel that Abuelito Pancho is something that Grandparents may be more inclined to buy for the kids, especially at this price.
Abuelito Pancho is definitely an original! With Elmo continuing to dominate the singing toy category (and super-heroes like Spider Man joining in), it is refreshing to have a warm, wholesome fun member of the family enter the industry! Plus we love that he sings his songs in Spanish. This isn’t simple word repeat for children, this is the actual songs, sung in their original language and dialect – a great plus!
Abuelito Pancho is a nice addition to any family! We love his fun, classic Grandpa style, and for those children who don’t get to see their grandparents as often as they would like, Abuelito Pancho can substitute as a nice stand-in! We found that all of our children, whether they were of Hispanic descent or not, were singing or humming along to his songs. And his singing is a great way to introduce little ones to a new language, or the language of their family!
